Fan Review:

By Adrian Barrett

What a day!The first gig at Slane and its Thin Lizzy and U2!!Two of my favourite bands of all time. But I'm only here to review U2.For the record the set list shown is slightly wrong.Bono came onstage before the rest of the band accompanied by Vincent Kilduff on Uillean Pipes and played Tommorrow. This was,of course, the first time anyone had heard the song and we were suitably blown away.

Once the whole band came on they could do no wrong. This was, effectively,a hometown gig(Dublins only 30 odd miles away)and the boys got the welcome you would expect.

The new songs played got a fantastic response but it was for the likes of I will Follow and,in particular,Out Of Control that the crowd went completely nuts.

At one point Phil Lynnott appeared at the side of the stage to watch.Slowly but surely ,the crowd spotted him and began to cheer. He simply turned to us shook his head and pointed at U2 and clapped himself before heading backstage.Quite possibly one of the coolest things I have ever witnessed!

I seem to remember Bono singing a snippet of a Monkees tune at some point but can't remember what one.

They finished with an awesome version of 'Tick Tock' and were gone.

We could have gone home happy then but Thin Lizzy provided the icing on a brilliant day!
