Review: A Day Without Me [#1]

2 stars (out of 5)

By JT Griffith, All Music Guide

This single is U2's fourth and was released three months in advance of the band's 1980 debut album, Boy. It is an important single because it is the first single from U2's first album and is the first produced by Steve Lillywhite. The classic song "I Will Follow" makes its appearance on only the French version of this 7", making this only valuable for the obscure instrumental "Things to Make and Do." The French version was cooler in 1980, but today's collector would probably want the song that is harder to find. The A Day Without Me single has never been released on CD and "Things to Make and Do" is not on any other release.
