Review: 11 O'Clock Tick Tock

2 1/2 stars (out of 5)

By JT Griffith, All Music Guide

This single is U2's third and is one of four that predate the band's 1980 debut album, Boy. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock is the last non-LP single released before their first full-length and before teaming up with Steve Lillywhite. (A Day Without Me, the first single from Boy, came out three months before its release.) Seven songs in total were released before Boy, four of which were never on a proper album. This single contains the songs "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" and "Touch." "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" was a live staple for many years, but "Touch" will be unfamiliar to all but the very dedicated fan. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock was the first U2 product to be released outside Ireland and was on Chris Blackwell's Island Records. The 11 O'Clock Tick Tock single has never been released on CD.
