U2's gruelling worldwide tour appears to be taking its toll on Bono -- as pictures from the Edge's Twitter page reveal.

The rock band are currently touring America and Canada as part of their 360 tour.

The Edge has been capturing life on the road with his digital camera and posting them online . The latest photos feature the bands travels through the US, including an appearance on US entertainment show Saturday Night Live at the Rockefeller Center.

The Irish rockers broke the attendance record at New Jersey's Giants Stadium before appearing in front of a television audience of millions on the popular TV programme.

But critics have said that Bono appeared somewhat lacklustre and his voice began to break after the first song. And photos which were taken by the Edge before they go on air reveal a tired-looking lead singer.

Afterwards, bloggers wrote about the show online, saying that while the band's performance was up to their usual standard, the frontman appeared fatigued.

However, it's not surprising Bono is tired as his schedule has been packed since he arrived in the States.

He walked old pal Amanda Brunker down the aisle in Manhattan, turning up just after the band performed at the Giants Stadium. But he then dashed off to a UN meeting with former President Bill Clinton.

The Edge appears to have been taking the tourist trail in New York, and snapped images of the skyline, the Hudson river and crowds of waiting to meet the band.

Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr and Adam Clayton kicked off their tour in Barcelona on June 30 and manager Paul McGuinness says the group has spent more than €44m so far.

The Dublin band move on to Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia this week, before hitting Canada at the end of October. U2 have extended their worldwide tour until September 2010.
